Tuna Salad with Raisins and Walnuts
A tuna salad that’s bursting with flavors and textures from sweet to savory and creamy to crunch.
Sometimes a tuna salad sandwich can really hit the spot.
In this tuna salad there’s a little bit of crunch, a bit of sweet and a bit of savory flavor.
The crunch comes from chopped celery, onion and walnuts; the sweet comes from raisins and the savory flavor comes from fresh dill.
The combination of flavors are a wonderful complement to the salty, mild fish flavor of the tuna.
Although this tuna sandwich is made with squaw bread feel free to change the bread to wheat, a roll, a bun or your favorite sandwich bread.
This salad can also be made with chicken instead of tuna. Just shred or cut leftover chicken into cubes and make the salad in the same way minus the tuna.

Tuna is a great item to keep in the pantry because the shelf life is fairly long. I happen to live in an earthquake prone area so I always keep cans of tuna in the pantry as a just-in-case measure.
For the same reason I also keep small cans of tuna with flip-top lids in a backpack in my car, along with other items just in case there was an earthquake and I was out on the road. The trick is to make sure and rotate the cans of tuna so not to have cans with expired dates.
This tuna salad can be served on top of a green salad, as a sandwich, with crackers, opened faced on a toasted roll or bun, or just by itself.
