Honey Citrus and Thyme Iced Tea

This iced tea has a delightful bouquet of flavors.

For the Container

  • A 1/2 gallon size (2 quarts) glass mason jar with a lid

For the Tea:

  • Cold water
  • 7 black tea bags
  • 1/2 orange sliced (including rind)
  • 1/2 lemon sliced (including rind)
  • 1/2 lime sliced (including rind)
  • 5 small springs fresh thyme
  • 1 tablespoon honey or to taste

For the Garnish:

  • Slices of orange, lemon and lime
  • Sprigs of thyme


For the Tea:

  • Fill a thoroughly cleaned jar 3/4 full of water. Add slices of orange, lemon and lime to the jar. 
  • Tie the thyme together with food-safe string, or put the thyme in a narrow cake decorating tip, and add to the jar. 
  • Add the honey, stir and cap with the lid. 
  • Put in the refrigerator for 2 hours. 
  • Remove and discard the tea bags from the jar. With a long slotted spoon or tongs, remove the slices of citrus and thyme. Stir and serve over ice. 

For the Garnish:

  • To the serving glasses, add slices of orange, lemon and lime, and small sprigs of thyme.
  • Store remaining tea in the refrigerator for no more than 2 days before serving.
