Easy Traditional Pizza with Homemade Sauce

A quick and easy pizza with homemade sauce.  The toppings can be customized to your favorite ingredients.

Ingredients

For the Pizza Sauce:

  • 1 can 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

For the Pizza:

  • 1 package (10 ounces) whole Boboli thin pizza crust or other premade pizza crust
  • 1 tablespoon corn meal
  • Pizza sauce
  • 4 tablespoons ricotta cheese
  • 1-1/2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 3 ounces sliced turkey (or regular) pepperoni
  • 5 slices thin deli cut ham tear into large size pieces
  • 1/2 cup pieces of cooked Italian turkey sausage about 1 whole sausage; meat removed from casing
  • 1 can (4 ounces) sliced mushrooms 4 ounces
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

For the Pizza Sauce:

  • To a medium size bowl, add tomato sauce, granulated garlic, dried oregano, dried parsley, dried basil, dried red pepper flakes and pepper.  Stir together. Set aside.

For the Pizza:

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. 
  • Sprinkle the cornmeal on a large baking sheet or pizza pie pan. Lay the prepared pizza crust on top of the corn meal. 
  • With a medium to large size spoon, add about half of the pizza sauce over the top of the crust (add more if you like a lot of sauce).
  • Evenly spread the sauce over the crust with the back of the spoon (leave about 1 inch of empty space around the edges).
  • The remaining sauce can be used for making small size pizzas on English muffins or slices of French bread. Or it can be frozen for future use. 
  • On top of the sauce, add small pieces of ricotta cheese around the entire pizza. Then add the mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the pizza.
  • Next, lay the slices of pepperoni around the entire pizza. 
  • Top with pieces of ham, cooked sausage, sliced mushrooms, and black olives over the entire pizza. 
  • Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top of the entire pizza.
  • Bake the pizza in the middle of a preheated oven until the cheese melts and the edges of the crust are slightly golden (about 15 minutes).
  • Cut the pizza with a pizza cutter and serve warm.
