1bag (10 ounces)miniature marshmallows(equal to 4 cups)
3-1/2tablespoonsbutter (salted), cut into cubes(for the krispie marshmallow treats)
2teaspoonsbutter, softened(for greasing the casserole dish)
Equipment
Rectangular casserole dish (13 x 9 x 2 inches)
Instructions
Preparation:
Grease the bottom and all sides inside a casserole dish with butter. Set aside.
Cereal and Pretzels:
To a large bowl, add Captain Crunch with Crunch Berries cereal and pretzels. Gently mix the cereal and pretzels together and set aside.
Marshmallows and Butter:
To a large microwavable bowl, add the marshmallows and butter.
Slightly Melt the Marshmallow Mixture:
Heat the bowl in the microwave for just 30 seconds. With a large sturdy spoon, stir the marshmallows (they'll be sticky).
Put the bowl of marshmallows back in the microwave and heat for another 20 seconds or just until they're almost creamy but still have some marshmallow lumps in them.
Combine Cereal and Pretzels with Marshmallow Mixture:
To the bowl with the slightly melted marshmallows, add the cereal and pretzel mixture. With a large sturdy spoon, gently mix together until the cereal and pretzels are coated with the melted marshmallows.
Transfer Mixture to the Casserole Dish:
Transfer the mixture into the greased casserole dish. Use a buttered spatula, wax paper, or add water to your hands and fingers to gently press the mixture evenly into the dish so that it's lightly compressed on the bottom and all sides. Be careful not to press directly on the pretzels (so not to break them).
Cool:
Let cool completely. If pressed for time, chill in the refrigerator to speed up the cooling process.
Cut and Serve:
While the marshmallow treats are still in the casseole dish, cut them evenly into 12 squares. And serve.
Notes
TIP:
Be careful not to press directly on the pretzels or they could break. The more whole pretzel twists there are, the better...to add garnish on top if each krispie treat.
