Watermelon, Mint and Lemon Infused Iced Green Tea

Ingredients

The following amounts may vary depending on the size of pitcher or jar used;

For the Tea:

  • 1 gallon cold water
  • 10  green tea bags
  • 3 slices lemon
  • 2 sprigs fresh mint
  • 1 quarter of a medium-size seedless watermelon rind removed and cut in medium-size pieces

For Garnish and Serving:

  • Small pieces of watermelon rind on and cut in triangular shapes
  • Sprigs of mint
  • Slices of lemon
  • Sugar optional - to rim the serving glasses
  • Ice for the serving glasses

Equipment

  • Large glass container with a lid

Instructions

For the Tea:

  • In a thoroughly cleaned large glass container with a lid, add cold water, tea bags (strings hanging over the outside edges of the container), lemon slices, sprigs of mint and watermelon.
    Cover with a lid and put in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
  • After brewing, remove and discard the tea bags and serve.

For Garnish and Serving:

  • As an option, the serving glasses can be rimmed with sugar; rub lemon around the rim of the glasses and then dip in sugar. 
  • Serve over ice and garnish with pieces of watermelon, slices of lemon and springs of mint. 
  • Serve the watermelon pieces (from the pitcher/jar of tea) on the side.
  • If storing leftover tea; remove the sprigs of mint, lemon and watermelon from the container and store in the refrigerator no longer than 2 days.
