Cantaloupe, Coconut and Berry Agua Fresca
For a quick and easy, light and refreshing drink that can be made in a matter of minutes, this agua fresca is just the thing.
Agua frescas, Spanish for “cool waters” are so colorful and pretty especially when adding pieces of fruit and berries as garnish.
I love making these because not only are they thirst-quenching but they’re also easy to make.
About the Ingredients
Often times I’ll overdo it a little when buying too many berries or too much fruit at the grocery store.
I’m not able to use it all so I end up freezing what I can and then make agua frescas with the rest.
Leftover juices or coconut milk also make great ingredients for agua frescas.
And adding an herb along with the fruit can give an agua fresca a nice pop of flavor so in this recipe I added some mint.
Options for Sweetening the Agua Fresca
To sweeten an agua fresca, simple syrup made with sugar and water can be used.
Or honey and agave nectar would be great too.
In this recipe I used a bit of regular sugar without making simple syrup.
About Straining and Serving the Agua Fresca
To make an agua fresca you’ll need a mesh strainer or cheese cloth to strain out the pulp so that the liquid is clear.
Then just serve it in a glass with a lot of ice.
Let’s check out the ingredients.
Cantaloupe, strawberries (frozen or fresh), coconut milk, mint, water and sugar (or honey, agave nectar)
