Cream Cheese Garlic Bread
Garlic bread with a cream cheese twist is the ultimate comfort food.

This cream cheese garlic bread is delicious served as a side dish or snack.
And it’s also a quick and easy appetizer when cut into smaller size pieces.
It’s an especially nice side dish to serve with a main dish that’s a little on the light side.
The cream cheese makes this garlic bread a bit more filling, and tastes so good in combination with the seasonings in this recipe.
About this Recipe
When I make this garlic bread, I use the block-type of cream cheese because it’s cheaper than the spreadable type.
But the spreadable type of cream cheese also works great for this garlic bread.
And although I used white French bread in this recipe, wheat French bread would also taste wonderful.
This garlic bread tastes like comfort food because with each bite, you get crispy garlic bread along with warm cream cheese.
For Serving
Serve this cream cheese garlic bread with salads, pasta, soups, stews, main courses, or all by its delicious self.
Let’s check out the ingredients.

French bread (white or wheat), butter, granulated garlic, paprika (sweet paprika), dried parsley and cream cheese (the block or spreadable type)
HOW TO MAKE THIS RECIPE
A printable recipe with the measurements and instructions is located at the bottom of this post.
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Cut the French Bread

Cut the French bread in half lengthwise.
Then cut each piece in half widthwise so that you have 4 quarter pieces.
Add Butter and Seasonings

Spread softened butter evenly on top of the bread.
Then sprinkle granulated garlic on the butter.

Using a spatula (or the side of a knife), smooth the granulated garlic evenly into the butter.

Sprinkle paprika over the garlic butter (reserving some of the paprika for garnish).

Smooth the paprika evenly into the garlic and butter.
Top with Cream Cheese

If you use a block of cream cheese, cut it into small squares.
Place the squares of cream cheese evenly spaced, on top of the buttered bread.
Try not to place them too close to the edge of the bread.

If you use the spreadable cream cheese, spread it over the butter and spice mixture.
Parsley and Parmesan Cheese

Sprinkle chopped parsley on top of the cream cheese (reserve some of the parsley for garnish).

Then sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese evenly on top.
Bake

Put the pieces of bread on a cookie sheet or pizza pan.
Bake it in a preheated oven (at 375 degrees F.) until it’s toasted (about 12 minutes).
For the Block-Type Cream Cheese – Smooth over the Bread

For the block-type cream cheese; right after removing the bread from the oven, smooth the warm cream cheese over the top of the bread with a spatula or knife.
Garnish

Garnish with the remaining paprika and…

…chopped parsley.
Serve

Cut the garlic bread into portion-size pieces and serve warm.

For those interested in the fat content, can I share my favorite cream cheese subsitute? When I saw this recipe, I immediately started wondering how it would taste using labneh – it is a soft Arabic cheese, low fat, easy to make (basically just strained yogurt), healthy, and delicious! Tastes similar to cream cheese, maybe a bit tangier. It’s my new favorite wonderfood!! 🙂
Hi Jessie, very good to know. I’m going to try making this….I just love the idea of making it with yogurt. Thank you for sharing this.
