Chocolate on Chocolate Dessert in a Glass
This chocolate-on-chocolate dessert is always a good idea.
This dessert comes fully loaded with chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate.
It’s served in a glass so that you can see all of the rich layers of chocolate.
About this Dessert
There are seven layers of chocolate to be exact, not counting the chocolate sprinkles on top.
This dessert starts with a layer of chocolate pudding.
Then it has a layer of chocolate fudge cake topped with drizzles of chocolate ganache (homemade chocolate sauce).
And for good measure it has another layer of chocolate fudge cake and more ganache.
Next, since chocolate cake needs frosting, this dessert is topped with a thick layer of homemade rich dark chocolate frosting.
Plus, more drizzles of ganache and lastly, chocolate sprinkles.
One thing’s for sure, it tastes REALLY good.
Normally ganache is made with cream, but in this recipe, it’s made with milk.
I wouldn’t want this dessert to be too rich or anything.
I mean with 7 layers of chocolate and all.
Let’s check out the ingredients.
Chocolate fudge boxed cake mix, chocolate instant pudding, unsweetened dark cocoa powder, dark chocolate chips, powdered sugar, butter, vanilla extract, milk and chocolate candy sprinkles
HOW TO MAKE THIS RECIPE
A printable recipe with the measurements and instructions is located at the bottom of this post.
For the Chocolate Pudding:
Start by making the pudding.
Make the pudding according to the package instructions; in a medium size bowl, add cold milk and the pudding mix.
Whisk together and…
…cover the bowl with plastic wrap.
Chill in the refrigerator to set while making the cake, frosting and ganache.
For the Chocolate Fudge Cake:
Preheat the oven according to the package instructions.
In a large bowl, add the cake mix…
…water…
…eggs…
…and…
…canola oil.
Next,
whisk (mix) together.
Grease a baking pan or glass baking dish with butter and add the cake batter.
Bake in a preheated oven according to the package directions.
After the cake is done baking, set it aside to cool (while still in the pan).
Once cooled, cut about 1/3 of the cake into cubes (1-inch square) and set aside.
There will be extra cake left over.
For the Chocolate Frosting:
After the cake has cooled and you’re ready to assemble the desserts, make the frosting and then the ganache.
In a medium size bowl, melt the butter.
Add the cocoa powder to the bowl…
…and…
…stir until…
…the mixture is creamy.
Add the powdered sugar,
milk and vanilla extract.
Beat the frosting with a mixer until it’s…
…creamy. Set aside for a moment.
For the Ganache:
In a small microwavable bowl, add chocolate chips…
…and milk.
Cover the bowl with a paper towel and warm the chocolate chips in the microwave for 20 seconds.
Stir the chocolate until it’s light and creamy.
For the Dessert Assembly:
To each serving glass, add a layer of pudding.
Then add a layer of cake (cubed pieces) on top of the pudding.
Drizzle ganache on top of the cake.
Next,
add another layer of cake (cubed pieces).
And top with more drizzles of ganache.
Just a couple more layers to go!
Add a thick layer of frosting on top of the cake (like you would frost a cupcake), more drizzles of ganache, and top with chocolate sprinkles.
Serve as soon as possible while…
…the ganache is still warm.
