Chipotle Chicken Nugget Sliders
These chipotle chicken nugget sliders are quick and easy to make in under 30 minutes.
You know these sliders are going to taste good when each ingredient is delicious on its own.
There’s just something about sliders served on soft rolls that makes them taste really good.
One of the softest rolls that comes to my mind are Hawaiian rolls.
They’re so soft that you have to be careful not to squeeze too hard when taking them out of the package so they’ll keep their shape.
So, in this slider recipe, seasoned fried chicken is served in Hawaiian rolls and topped with an easy homemade honey Dijon sauce.
The combination of flavors taste so good together in the soft and slightly sweet roll.
About this Recipe
In this recipe, the chicken nugget in the middle of these sliders is seasoned with Chipotle chile powder, salt and pepper.
Then it’s coated in flour and lightly fried in canola oil.
For Serving
This chipotle chicken nugget slider is served “sideways”, more like a mini hot dog bun style slider.
And the slider roll is only cut on one side so the slider can be served cut side-up.
This way the honey Dijon sauce stays inside of the slider.
Serve these sliders as a main dish, appetizer or as a finger food on game day.
Let’s check out the ingredients.
Honey Dijon Sauce – mayonnaise, honey and Dijon mustard
Chipotle Chicken Nugget Sliders – boneless skinless chicken breasts, Chipotle chile powder, flour, salt, pepper, canola oil, and Hawaiian wheat rolls
HOW TO MAKE THIS RECIPE
A printable recipe with the measurements and instructions is located at the bottom of this post.
Preparation
Set a small cooling rack onto a large plate (this will be used to set the chicken on after it’s cooked and removed from the pan).
Set aside.
Honey Dijon Sauce
In a small bowl, add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard and honey.
Whisk together and set aside for a moment.
Season the Chicken
Cut each chicken breast into 4 equal-sized pieces and add them to a medium size bowl or plate.
Top the chicken with Chipotle powder…
…ground black pepper…
…and salt.
Using kitchen tongs, roll the pieces of chicken in place on the plate to coat each piece on all sides with the seasonings.
Coat the Chicken with Flour
Add flour to a separate small bowl and coat each piece of chicken with the flour.
Set aside for a moment.
Fry the Chicken
Heat a medium size skillet on medium heat and add canola oil.
Add a pinch of flour to the oil and when it bubbles it’s time to add the chicken to the pan.
Using kitchen tongs, carefully add each piece of chicken to the pan.
When the bottom side of the chicken turns a golden color (about 3 or 4 minutes) turn the chicken over.
Continue to turn the chicken as it cooks until all sides of the chicken are a golden color and cooked through (about 4 or 5 more minutes).
If the chicken is browning too quickly turn the heat down just a bit.
Transfer the chicken from the pan onto the small cooling rack to drain off the excess oil.
Assemble the Sliders
Partially cut the rolls in half from side to side leaving a small section uncut so it resembles a hot dog bun.
Next…
…drizzle honey Dijon sauce inside each roll…
…then add a fried chicken nugget to each bun and drizzle more honey Dijon sauce on top of the chicken.
Garnish
Garnish with chives.
Serve
Serve warm with the uncut side of the bun down (like a mini hot dog).
